I’ve always loved planning unique themed parties as well as working with fresh florals. My sister Chris and I decided we wanted to offer our event planning and decorating skills for hire and Party Animalz was born! When we first opened our store front, we offered all kinds of party supplies – from colorful plates, utensils and tablecloths to go with any party theme, to greeting cards and gift wrap, to more specialized party décor. A large part of our business was moving towards full event planning and décor and larger balloon displays so we made the decision to close the store front and run Party Animalz out of the new event venue I was opening, The Twisted Tulip in Machesney Park, and that gave us the ability to focus more on the larger events we were decorating for as well as offer an in house decorating service for those who were renting at The Tulip. Some of my best childhood memories are in the kitchen with my Grandmother working on decorations for my younger brother’s birthday parties. She would always spend time growing up teaching me how to properly set a table and teaching me the little thingsshe would think about when she was planning a party (her Christmas parties were a thing of legend) and in my early 20s, my Aunt Kathie would occasionally ask me help her with flowers for weddings. That time I spent learning from the entrepreneurial women in my family planted the seeds for one day being able to turn those skills into a career. Now I have the privilege of working with people during some of life’s most special moments and I lovegetting to take some of the stress off their plate and make their dreams a reality!
